While living in Japan have you ever seen the printmaker Jun Sekino's work? He's known for his portraits of people with cats. Usually someone is holding the cat. I think he's dead now...One of my clients had a huge print of his over his fireplace. Loved it . That one was a woman with a big white cat.
His first name is also written as Junichiro.He was born i 1914 and died in Tokyo in 1988. I think I read he was pretty well known for how many colors he could produce and how many wood blocks he used. Portraits, animals, sumo wrestlers, actors, and landscapes. Very prolific in his work.
